Summer 2004. A new folkpunkband called Filthy Nelly Euro Speedfolk. Right from the beginning it is the bands intention to create an explosive mixture of European Folk and punk, concerning mostly original songs written by singer/guitar-player/writer KataStrof. The band features a great line-up of international musicians. Starting as a 6-piece band Filthy Nelly mixes these different styles and creates its own identity. In 2005 the band already played some well-known clubs and festivals in The Netherlands, for enthousiastic crowds. Furthermore the band shared bills with Shane MacGowan and the popes, Blood Or Whiskey, The Transsylvanians and Neck. And the band got selected for the moving festival Popronde 2005. In the summer of 2006 Filthy Nelly released their first EP, called Fast Feet Galore. The album includes six original Filthy Nelly songs, recorded at the DK-studio of Günter Scholz in Gronau(D). The album has had airplay on several radio stations throughout Holland, Belgium, Germany. Furthermore the EP reached the third position in the Lowlands Top 25, the alternative album-chart for Dutch bands. Several reviews in respected magazines like Music Maker underline the original approach of writing new and good quality folksongs as well as the passionate way of making music. By the end of 2006 the band played several gigs before large audiences in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany. In 2007 the band plays Dranouter AZ and Folk Dranouter: the biggest folkfestival in Europe with app. 80,000 visitors! In 2008 the band has been signed to an artist development/recording contract with dutch Indie label Silvox for the release and distribution of their first full length CD. The album is due to be released spring 2010. Filthy Nelly in concert stands for a truly exciting live show.
